The vampire facial is basically microneedling of the skin but without using serums such as retinols/anti-ageing serums/vitamin C etc. Instead we use your own plasma to rejuvenate the skin.

Blood is made up of components - red blood cells/white blood cells/platelets/plasma is the liquid portion of the blood; our red and white blood cells and platelets are suspended in plasma as they move throughout the body. Plasma has many growth factors and when centrifuged they become 1000 times richer. This component is the liquid gold for the skin and has so many benefits which I will move onto shortly.

A consultation before a vampire facial is very important, as with any facial, to explain the procedure and check that the client is suitable for the treatment, to check any contraindications and to explain what to expect during and after the facial.

Step 1 

The client's blood is taken from the arm - three 4.5ml tubes of blood. This is then put into a centrifuge machine to spin the blood at 4000rpm for approximately 7 minutes. This is enough time for the components to separate.

Step 2 

The client is then made comfortable on the beauty couch, the skin is double cleansed and a topical anaesthetic cream is applied to the face for around 15 minutes. Whilst this is taking place the plasma is drawn from the tubes into a syringe ready to microneedle into the skin. Depending on the client's skin concerns: 

• if treating the skin for ageing and wrinkles PRP can be injected directly into wrinkles.

• if treating a younger client for skin rejuvenation microneedling prp in is the best option.

Step 3 

The anaesthetic cream is removed and the plasma is dropped onto the skin and microneedled in at different depths for different areas of the face. when the microneedling is complete a cooling mask is applied for 10/15 minutes. I personally like to give my clients a scalp massage at this stage. To finish the treatment an LED light mask is placed over the face for 10 minutes to speed up the healing process.

The client is then given appropriate after care.

Down time for the vampire facial is around 2 to 3 days... the skin will look like you have mild sunburn for a few days. A gentle cleanser is recommended / no exfoliation as you have had a resurfacing procedure done on the skin. It is imperative to hydrate your skin and protect it from sun damage. No sweating, sauna, swimming, steam room or sun beds for 1 week.
